Insurance Renewal Yacht Surveys
South West England and Wales
Many yacht insurers require a current survey before they will renew cover - particularly for boats over a certain age or value. An insurance renewal survey from Ardenna Yacht Surveys gives your insurer the independent assessment they need, while also giving you peace of mind that your vessel is in sound condition and offering recommendations for improvements. We produce professional, clear survey reports accepted by major marine insurers, and cover the South West and South Coast of England and Wales.

“Needed an urgent survey carried out for my insurance company and Ardenna Yacht Surveys managed to fit me in and complete the report within the time scales. Excellent communication throughout. I would highly recommend using their services.”
When Does Your Insurer Require a Survey?
Insurance requirements vary between providers, but you will often be asked for a survey if your boat is over ten years old, if you are switching insurers, if the boat has not been surveyed for a number of years, or if you are increasing the declared value after renovations. Some insurers specify that surveys must be carried out by a member of a recognised professional body.
Simon Ransome-Williams is an Associate Member of the Society of Consulting Marine Engineers and Ship Surveyors (AMCMS) and a member of IMarEST. His surveys meet the requirements of leading marine insurers.

Based in Lyme Regis, we cover boatyards and marinas across Dorset, Devon, Cornwall, Somerset, Hampshire and the South Wales coast. Whether your boat is in Poole, Dartmouth, Plymouth or Swansea, we can help.
An insurance renewal survey is primarily a condition survey - it assesses the current state of the yacht to establish whether it is seaworthy and correctly valued for insurance purposes. It is not as extensive as a full pre-purchase survey, but it is thorough and covers all the key structural and safety elements.
